This semester started off a little rough. You know when you’re watching a military movie and there’s a new pilot in the plane, and you’re not sure they’ll hit lift off before the end of the aircraft carrier? Will they straighten out and fly, or will they crash into the water? Well, friends, I’ve been that pilot, and one of the first things I did to course correct was start a silly contest called UE Fun and Games. The first contest was for Czar of Unrequited Love. Keep your eyes on this space, students, because I’ll be announcing the next contest and title soon, but this one goes to Alexis Carpenter’s “My Arizona.” Stunning work, Alexis. Truly, you deserve so much better than a silly title…
…but I feel like even the silly title means we all steadied the plane and achieved lift off. In fact, by the time I started reading submissions, I already felt like I was in the air. Love you, UE Students.
